Our Services

Our Service

Hull & Company, Inc. (RFO) is a D&O, E&O and collateral lines insurance specialist for independent agents and brokers.  We are not an insurance carrier, managing general agent, underwriting manager or program administrator.  Our core mission is to function as an extension of your office and service team by providing you with meaningful support services that you value and not to compete with your direct efforts to place coverage.

Hull & Company, Inc. (RFO)provides the service attitude, expertise and market breadth that allows retail brokers and agents to effectively compete with the large national and regional brokerage firms when placing Management/Professional Liability insurance.

Our philosophy

Our clients buy from Hull & Company, Inc. (RFO) because of the service we provide.  By service, we mean not only being able to offer valuable insurance products, demonstrate technical expertise and extensive market access, but also taking the extra step to make sure a client is fully satisfied. Service includes the way we talk and relate to our clients.  It’s the concern we give to each client to make sure they get what they need when they need it.  The quality of our services is truly what sets us apart and gives Hull & Company, Inc. (RFO) the competitive edge.

To just say this isn’t enough.  In order for us to function effectively as an organization, each and every employee must believe, feel and live it.  It is an attitude that we must wake up with every day.  We strive to make this part of our company culture and base our hiring strategy and staff development on this philosophy.  Service is stressed each day in our organization policies and procedures, market reviews, account reviews and every aspect of our company.

Brokerage Services

Marketing and placement service

Our marketing and placement service is a comprehensive service for agents and brokers that either have limited expertise and/or limited insurance company relationships in these insurance areas or simply just need to expand or augment their existing resources.  Think of us as an extension of your in-house marketing department.  In the case where the client elects to fully outsource the marketing and placement functions we will entertain a sub-servicer/co-broker agreement.  This service automatically includes our E&S Brokerage Services.  For agents and brokers who don’t need our full service we can discuss a custom service arrangement that fills those specific needs.

E&S Brokerage Services

When standard carriers don’t exist for a particular risk or decline to quote altogether or offer a quote with limited or inadequate coverage that does not address the insured’s coverage specifications, our E&S brokerage services will submit the account to non- admitted carriers who specialize in non-standard and hard-to-place risks that distribute product predominately or exclusively to select wholesalers.

We are asked to perform these services in the following situations:

The agent or broker was unable to obtain the required insurance from their standard carriers that they have reason to believe write a particular line of insurance.

Agents and brokers who appreciate the willingness and flexibility of the non-admitted markets who can customize coverage terms and pricing for an insured organization with difficult or exotic coverage needs.

Depending on the diligent search for admitted carrier requirements in the state where the account is domiciled, Hull & Company, Inc. (RFO) will supplement the agent and broker search for admitted carrier with our many standard admitted insurance companies while concurrently submitting the risk to the E&S market.

Learning Workshops

We actively work with agents and brokers to set up learning workshops to give existing and new employees current product and coverage training. This can be set up in conjunction with your periodically scheduled marketing meetings, producer sales meetings or as a “Lunch and Learn” program for customer service representatives and/or other interested personnel.

Claims Support

As the insurance policy is a legal contract between the insured and the insurance company, we strongly recommend that to reserve their rights under the policy, the insured report claims directly to the carrier as stipulated in the policy terms and conditions, or, as the insured’s representative, the agent or broker report the claim and make all inquiries about claim status directly to the carrier.

Hull & Company, Inc. (RFO) is a strong advocate for prompt and responsible carrier claim handling and is always available to answer any questions concerning reporting requirements and carrier contract information. What's more we are always interested to know if there is concern about how the carrier is doing in handling claims and when appropriate and possible we will certainly help facilitate communications between parties.

Sales support

We can gather together information for our retail clients that supports the insurance review and purchase decision.  For eligible accounts we will attend insured meeting with clients to present quotes and discuss coverage and exposure issues.  We always encourage conference calls as a viable means for effective communications with insurance buyers.

Surplus Lines service desk

All parties to the insurance transaction gone wrong have potential exposures to errors and omissions lawsuits and possibly extra contractual damage claims on the contract side and/or fines, sanctions, license suspension or revocation.

Our surplus lines service desk is offered to our retail client to assist them in avoidance of costly violations of state insurance law and to support professionalism in our industry.

We appreciate that many agents and brokers may need to revisit some of the fundamentals about compliance, or lack adequate tools for training new staff members to handle compliance in a timely and efficient manner.

Our service desk can help guide agents and brokers and their staff on how to correctly complete excess lines affidavits and related documents that will help reduce or eliminate delayed or returned filings due to documents that are incomplete or contain errors or material inconsistencies.

Our Services and Technology-Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery Program

Extensive computer networking and communications technologies have strengthened our focus on operational skills and procedures that support brokerage services.

We have installed a reliable and flexible system to keep our business running at full speed for peace-of-mind that valuable data and operations are protected.  In the event of catastrophic failure, Hull & Company, Inc. (RFO) can bring online all protected services and up-to-date offsite backups within minutes from an off site data center that provides secure remote access to all applications and data and keeps us in business to be of service to our client agents and brokers.

All data is fully encrypted using an advanced encryption standard that has never been broken and is currently considered the gold standard of encryption techniques.
